HOW TO CHOOSE A GREAT LOOKING NECKLACE

I went out shopping today and who can not say Miami is a shopper's paradise! I feel compelled to share with you what I believe is a great way to UPDATE any outfit without spending LOTS OF MONEY! And because they are such a BIG TREND now, I give you some ideas on what to get and how to make them work for you!

NECKLACES! Are BIG, BOLD and TRENDING!

How to chose the right one for us?

As a general rule keep in mind that whatever we wear near or on our faces (such as a necklace, earrings, sunglasses) should NOT follow the BASIC RULE OF "like enhances like".

To simplify:

• If your facial shape is ROUND, DO NOT buy a necklace with round stones all over.  You will look so much better with any other geometrical angular shape, such as squares, triangles, or rectangles. 
• If you have a very angular facial shape, such as Square, Diamond or Rectangle then go ahead and choose rounded, softer shapes
• If your face is more like an Oval, you can carry any shape very well.

Gold and Colored and enameled stones, are BIG this season. Also wearing short necklaces on top of your buttoned "all the way" up shirts, blouses and dresses  is a must! ;-)

If you don't like to wear chunky big necklaces near your face, a great idea is to use different lengths of very thin necklaces at the same time to create a bold but softer look.

Hoy sali de shopping por la ciudad de Miami, donde ir de compras es deporte olimpico oficial!

Entre todas las cosas que vi, hoy quiero contarles  cuál es uno de los Trends mas grandes para esta temporada de Primavera-Verano. Lo mejor de este Trend es que es una manera muy facil de modernizar cualquier vestuario, sin tener que gastar millones. Porque los accesorios, sirven para eso....y que mejor que el trend de esta temporada, 

los Collares!!!

Les deje unas fotos para inspirarse, y que sirvan de guia para comprar. Como regla básica general, todo lo que se lleve en la cara o cerca (gafas, aretes, o collares) deben seguir la regla Inversa. Es decir, si tenemos un rostro de forma Redonda, nos veremos mejor, si elegimos collares que tengan forma angular, puede ser por ejemplo con piedras cuadradas, o rectangulares. Asi mismo si nuestra forma de rostro es mas Cuadrada, nos veremos mejor, con collares que tengan piedras redondas, o formas mas suaves.

Utilizar el collar por encima de la blusa, camisa o vestido, apoyado a nivel de la clavicula o levemente por encima, es un "fashion" statement instantaneo! Las camisas mejor abotonarlas hasta el último botón. 

Me encanta también como se ven los moños en raso negro, atados al cuello! Esa es una idea que no requiere muchos recursos, y que se ve muy bonita!

Pero bueno, las reglas fueron hechas para romperlas! ó por lo menos eso es lo que dice constantemente mi compañera que también es fashion stylist!

 Entonces a romperlas! que n definitiva es lo más divertido! pero acuerdense que podemos divertirnos siguiendo algunas reglas básicas que nos permiten vernos siempre estupendas!

BEST COLOR choices for BLONDES, or how to replace BLACK!

Do you know why traffic signals are black over a bright yellow background?
You got it! They are calling our full attention! Danger ahead! Watch out! Look here!
These signalling can save our lives so you bet that this color combination has been proven to work!

What does it remind you of though?

Aha! Yes! That's the idea. A bright blonde wearing a black wardrobe. Instant Attention!

Well who wouldn't like a bit more attention? Or maybe you wouldn't? You prefer to be on the peripherals of this crazy public exposure driven world...that's also an option.

So listen, if you feel like going out and conquering the world, ok.....maybe just for a little while, a night maybe? buy yourself a blonde wig (if you can't afford to dye your hair) and put on a little black dress.

On the other hand if you want people to notice you, your real features, your smile, the spark in your eyes, and not just the fact that your hair is blond..which I would recommend to build authentic and more enduring relationships, well then I suggest you pick a little white dress, maybe a dark slate grey or ink blue, depending on your skin's undertones if you want to be in neutrals. My best bet for Spring 2013 would be for you to wear all those beautiful pinks, baby blues, and mint greens and even the yellow that is so trendy right now, and if the proper shade will complement you beautifully.

These could be used as your neutrals, these are for a mostly cool based undertone, but that is a good example of an ink blue, second from right.

These are the soft, almost pastel colors that I recommend for blondes with cool undertones.

A little bit of color didn't hurt anybody, besides we are not talking about deadly curves to watch out for here......or are we? Then just go ahead and wear that black!

Las MEJORES OPCIONES DE COLORES PARA VESTIR SI TIENES PELO RUBIO, ¿Cómo dejar de usar tanto negro?

Aha! Haz visto la señal de tráfico que puse arriba? Curva peligrosa? Así es, la señalización de tráfico esta hecha mundialmente en negro sobre un fondo amarillo. Esta combinación de color ha sido probada como la que llama la atención con mayor rapidez.

Esto me recuerda mucho a las personas rubias. Muchas veces les gusta vestirse de negro, porque esté gran contraste hace que llamen la atención. Aunque no todas las personas con ese color de cabello quieren llamar la atención en todo momento y lugar, no sería apropiado en algunas situaciones.

Si queréis llamar la atención, con tu cabello Rubio, natural o no, y hasta usando una peluca de se color, lo lograrás recurriendo al clásico vestidito negro. Pero si lo que quieres es que las personas puedan apreciar tus rasgos, el brillo de tus ojos, tu belleza natural, entonces te sugerimos que utilices otros colores, más a menudo.

En neutrales, podemos ver en la primera paleta de colores, el azul tinta, y el gris, o beige, además del blanco (mejor manteca que nieve).

Sugiero para esta primavera, los tonos pasteles en celestes, verdes y rosas, que pueden ver en la segunda paleta. Estos colores tienen una base fría, y quedan mejor a las personas rubias más ceniza que caramelo. De todas maneras recuerden que no sólo es el tono del cabello lo que cuenta al elegir nuestros mejores colores, sino el de la piel, y los ojos.

Si todavía no se convencieron y quieren seguir utilizando el negro a diario, tengan cuidado si llaman demasiado la atención por las razones equivocadas.....curvas peligrosas...alguna?

Should I get my colors done?

What is Color Analysis? 

What does having your colors done mean? There are Color Specialists, usually Image Consultants, who through a series of tests diagnose your basic natural genetically determined coloring. That means you will start to understand your skin's undertone, as it relates to the three primary colors, yellow, red and blue. You will understand it more when you can SEE these colors in yourself. And I will put up pictures of people and explain more about it in the coming weeks.

Through a series of Color Analysis Test Tools, and even more so, through their own trained expert eye, an Image Consultant/Color Analyst can tell you which colors are most flattering to you.

I love Color, I believe in the power of color to lift our spirits up, or to drag us down. I can feel it myself, when I am wearing a color I like and that looks good on me, I feel more at ease, like that is taken care of. If I am wearing the wrong color/combination, I kind of feel like I would @ a bad hair day! And I totally hate those! which tend to happen often lately, because either I've bought the wrong shampoo for my hair type, or it's NYC's weather! Well, that is another subject, for another post! Hair!!!

Now, let's go back to COLOR!

The psychology of color, is a very interesting field. Its findings are applied daily by advertising professionals, graphic designers, interior decorators, architects, painters, textile designers, restauranteurs, marketers and the list goes on and on...we live in a predominately visual world, so it makes sense that we should understand more and more how color works.

So if all of them are applying the Power of Color, why shouldn't you do so? I think the majority of us would like to get more results on our daily lives. Have more energy, feel calmer, more patient, more approachable, friendlier, more authoritative...You name it! Color is a very useful tool that can help us come closer to our goals, or the people we love, or want to attract!

The power of color cannot be underestimated.

So then, back to the question...Is it worth having your colors done?

Yes!  It is worth having a Color Analysis done by an expert on personal coloring.  

If you have a very good natural eye, you probably already own a lot of clothes and accessories in colors that are flattering to you. The key in having your color analysis done, is understanding why certain colors make your face look more vibrant and young, and some others make you look tired or older. And then choose accordingly when you buy new items, or decide to get rid of some that are the "wrong" colors for us.

We can simplify our choices by narrowing down, what looks naturally good on us. And can save time in the morning, instead of swimming through our closet trying to find something that works.

You will know, how to choose the "color of the season" as a color based on your undertone, and make it work for you, instead of being a victim of it.
Spring is coming in the Northern Hemisphere, and YELLOW is a huge trend this coming season. So not everybody can wear yellow and look good...Is it? Well once you understand undertones, you will find out, that even if you don't think yellow looks good on you, there are certain yellows that you can work beautifully.

You see, it is not Just about the psychology of color, or the color of the season. It is about our  own individual characteristics and how they relate to color! Again this is all about knowing ourselves and using the tools at our disposal to make our dreams and goals more reachable.

El color es un factor muy importante al momento de decidir que nos vamos a poner, en el dia a dia, pero más aún, cuando tenemos un evento importante. 

El color tiene muchisimas connotaciones emocionales, que más alla de la historia personal nuestra, y las asociaciones inconcientes que hemos hecho, nos influye cotideanamente. Esto bien lo saben los publicistas, profesionales de marketing, los decoradores de interiores, disenadores, pintores, etc. En el mundo actual predomina la estimulación visual, por eso es necesario que sepamos que hay detrás del uso del color, y como podemos usarlos nosotros personalmente para acercarnos más a nuestras metas. 

El color es una herramienta muy poderosa, y muy gratificante!

Las temporadas siempre se caracterizan por ¨imponer¨ un color como tendencia, y varios adicionales que lo complementan. A veces, como sucede ahora que comienza la primavera en el hemisferio norte, y que se siente la presencia del AMARILLO como color protagonista, nos da un poquito de miedo. Pero si a mi el amarillo no me queda nada bien! ...La clave está en saber identificar cuales son los tonos de amarillo que podemos usar. 

Básicamente los colores tienen un subtono que depende de los tres colores primarios de los cuales están formados. Cada color tiende más hacia el amarillo, ó hacia el azul, y el rojo está en el equilibrio del centro. Está es la clave básica para entender nuestros colores. 

Lo que hace un Analista del Color, es identificar y diagnosticar los subtonos de nuestra piel, y amalgamárlos a nuestro colorido personal presente en los ojos, y el cabello. Se tienen en cuenta además factores como el color de cabello en la niñez, y el colorido de nuestras venas. 

En que me beneficia saber cual es mi colorido personal? Luego del diagnóstico, el experto en color, te guiará a elegir aquellos colores que te hacen lucir más joven, más energica, más viva, porque están en armonía contigo . Usar un color inadecuado puede hacer que nos veamos más grandes, y más cansadas de lo que realmente estamos. 

Aprender sobre el color, y aplicarlo en nosotras mismas, es una estrategia excelente que nos ayuda a dar un paso gigantesco hacia definir nuestro propio estilo, y alcanzar nuestras metas.

What is it about PEPLUM?

Let's go straight to the point....because you really want to know, why is peplum a lasting trend, and not just a fad....
Peplum is one of the best tools to create a waist where there is none. In the case of many women who have naturally a rectangular or oval natural silhouette, we image consultants and stylists encourage the use of peplum to create volume below the natural waist, and visually project a waist. But what makes it great is that many women who do have waist but have lost it momentarily (hopefully) after having babies, or due to medical reasons.....(we don't want to think its merely out of not taking good care of yourself) but I know it happens....It works for them also!!!!

Who should maybe be cautious about wearing peplum? If you are below average in height, and that is 5 feet 4 inches, or 1 meter 63 cm.

Why? It will make you appear even shorter, by cutting your line abruptly in a horizontal direction. Try it though if you are very slim, as you always will appear taller than you are, or wear the highest heels you own, like the girl wearing the light green top, if you must wear that peplum dress, skirt, or shirt!

Que pasa que no dejo de ver Peplum por todos lados!?
Las consultoras y estilistas de imagen sabemos que lo que hace más femenina la figura es la Cintura! El Peplum es El Salvador de todas aquellas mujeres que por contextura física y silueta natural no tienen una cintura definida. También las mujeres que han dado a luz recientemente, o que han tenido problemas médicos, pueden quedar menos en forma. Todas ellas son las candidatas oficiales para usar Peplum.

Quien no debería usarlo? Si eres muy baja de altura, y estas por debajo del promedio, que es aprox. 1 metro 63 cm, debes tener cuidado y ponerte tacos altos para equilibrar la figura.

El Peplum cuanto más obvio, más corta tu figura en dos de manera horizontal. Un consejo es también usar top and bottom del mismo color, asi creas una línea vertical en contraste!

Hay de todo ahora, Peplum en faldas, vestidos, en todo tipo de tops, prueba los que más te gustan y juega combinandolos!

It is freezing lately in NYC, but it's winter time, so why shouldn't it be? Women find all ways to cover themselves but these are proof that even with this kind of weather you can still look fashionably great!

Me congelo en New York, pero que pretendo si es justito pleno invierno! A veces usamos el frío como excusa para ponernos cualquier cosa, una arriba de la otra y ya....con tal de no sufffrir, o sufrir lo menos posible diría yo. Pero aquí estas chicas nos demuestran que pese al frío podemos aun vernos súper fashionable y femeninas!

Those Shoes!!!

Too many NYCFashion week designers were using Manolo Blahnik's shoes for their shows. The hard truth is as much as designers and stylists liked them, the models wished better! It is an incredible art to walk gracefully on the runway, and these girls have mastered it!
Thankfully it only takes them less than a minute to walk the runway up and down. So when you see the models on those shoes and that graceful walk, you wish you wore them....but what you don't know is that most of them waited for the last possible second to put them on.  And, as soon as they came off the runway that is the first thing they wanted to remove.
 This year Manolo's shoes were present in about 80 percent of the shows I was on. And the thing they had in common was the pointy tip, and the hardness of the materials used, with a prevalence of transparent plastic, which looks gorgeous to me, but is a feet killer. So when I found out they were giving Manolo Blahnik a Royal Designers Award @ Palacio Real el Pardo in Madrid today, I wondered...and then I thought again...well deserved Manolo, you are an Artist! I don't think I could wear your shoes though, but see an exhibition of your work @ Museo Nacional del Prado, I would love!

El color del año 2013 ¡Mi favorito!

El verde es el color de la naturaleza. Transmite calma, y serenidad, invita a la meditación. Pero no es como el azul, que nos da una calma sobria y más fría, una calma estática. No, el verde es el color de LA ESPERANZA!.....el verde esmeralda es un color que combina tonos calidos y frios en proporciones casi iguales, por eso es un color que le "queda" bien a todo tipo de pieles y coloraciones de pelo...además aquí en NYC les gusta muchísimo porque es.el color del dinero!!!

NAEEM KHAN el favorito de Luciana Barroso y Matt Damon

Naeem Khan es un genio. Esta colección se inspiró en el Art Deco de los años 20s y el Imperio Byzantino. Khan se caracteriza por los intrincados bordados de canutillos y piedras. Comenzó su colección con vestidos en negro, piel y bordados en plata y oro. Algo de color llego con el Teal, o verde azulado, un color que es sentador para todo tipo de pieles.
Naeem Khan es un diseñador ideal para la alfombra roja,  y es por esto que tantos fashion stylists tratan de ir al backstage de su show. Buscan el mejor vestido para sus clientes/celebridades.
Esta colección que nació de la unión de siluetas de los años 20 y se combino con los bordados y terminaciones inspiradas en el Imperio Byzantino, es todo un lujo. Vestidos realmente opulentes, texturados, brillantes, "pesados". ¡El vestido strapless de color Teal que podemos ver en la foto pesaba aproximadamente cinco kilos!. Pero ese fue una excepción, fue el único vestido de la colección hecho con terciopelo. Por otro lado, muchos de los vestidos estuvieron hechos en telas livianas y transparentes como la gaza y la organza, donde lo que brilló fue el trabajo de bordados con canutillos y piedras.

Glamour y Social Media en la New York Fashion Week

Sólo algunos famosos ó la elite aristocrática de New York City, están autorizados a entrar en la zona del backstage. Allí donde esperan en perchas las colecciones en su forma más ¨raw¨, ver y tocar las creaciones antes que los editores de moda, es un privilegio. Una vez en la pasarela, les pertenecerán a todos, por eso esa media hora de anticipo al desfile es tan codiciada.

La tendencia en Nueva York, es que los famosos se hagan presentes en los backstage de las colecciones de sus diseñadores favoritos. Así, en el mega desfile del diseñador indio radicado en Nueva York Naeem Khan, estuvieron Matt Damon y su mujer Luciana Bozán Barroso , Brooke Shields, y Carmen Electra. No faltó la presencia de Miley Cyrus en los backstage de desfiles de Rachel Zoe y Marchesa. Y donde hay famosos siempre hay un exceso de fotógrafos, muy a pesar del personal de vestuario, que actúa como agente de seguridad, cuidando que nadie pise los vestidos, ni se lleve por delante los percheros.

Las fotos más valiosas sin embargo, son aquellas que las modelos sacan con sus teléfonos móviles y suben a sus cuentas de twitter y/o facebook. Ellas tratan de buscar cualquier momento libre para subir contenido y chatear.

Todos quieren fotos de los nuevos zapatos, bolsos, colores, cortes de vestidos. Todos quieren ser los primeros en saber, informar y usar lo que está ¨IN¨. Actores, cantantes, modelos, todos corren la carrera, y todos saben el poder del social media.
